In Eskonpuisto park, located in Rautaharkko, Tampere, Wild Zone is experimenting with transforming a disused playing field into a sun-exposed dry meadow. The surface of the area was coarsened so that the vegetation would get a better start. We sowed the area with, for example, Echium vulgare, Artemisia campestris, Trifolium arvense<\/i>, and Centaurea scabiosa<\/i> seeds. The middle part of the area used to be a volleyball field, and on its sandy seedbed we sowed Viscaria vulgaris<\/i> and Oxytropis campestris subsp. sordida<\/i> seeds. The plants sown are all local strains, and their wild population origins are traceable. We are implementing the Eskonpuisto park dry meadow in cooperation with the City of Tampere.<\/p>\n
